It's a magical time of the year. Come walk with us and pass out candy as we promote our mission to helping people in Central Illinois live free from violence and abuse. Volunteers are encouraged to wear their favorite holiday attire while they accompany Quacky (CFPA’s mascot) and other friends of CFPA. 

Volunteers can also wear santa/elf hats and any festive accessories. Feel free to bring candy to share in the parade (no suckers please). This year's parade starts an hour earlier than past parades. Lineup begins 8:30 a.m. The parade begins at 9:15 a.m. sharp. Strollers and wheelchairs welcome! Please no pets.

Our Adopt Our Families program connects generous community donors with local families in need and now it’s time to wrap all those wonderful gifts!

We’re looking for volunteers to help wrap presents for our clients and their families. Whether you’re a wrapping pro or just bring good holiday cheer, we’d love to have you join us!

All supplies will be provided just bring your holiday spirit. If you do have extra wrapping supplies, you are welcome to bring it!

We serve more than 113 individuals in our CILA group homes 24/7 and another 9 on our Intermittent CILA program. Several have little to no family support. Seeking kind individuals willing to adopt them for Christmas and put a few presents under their tree. This is a great opportunity for a group, family or a singe caring person. What a great was to show the holiday spirit by giving to someone in need. 

The Arc of the Quad Cities Area needs your help with Hygiene supplies for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As we all know costs continue to rise and available money for individuals with intellectual disabilities doesn't. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities typically have little money left from their cost of care. I am seeking some caring individuals to help alleviate the cost of Hygiene supplies and leave them more money to spend on items that make them happy. We are seeking items such as Shampoo/conditioner for all hair types (including products for black hair), both solid and spray on deodorant. toothpaste, mouth wash, Body wash (not bar soap) for both men and women (Men's 3 in one and women's 2 in one is preferred), men's and women's shaving cream, razers, body lotion, body sprays, hairbrushes, combs, Kleenexes, nail care, chap stick etc. The most needed products to date are Men's 3 in one, body wash (some for sensitive skin, shampoo and conditioner. 

No bar soap, Q-Tip's or cotton balls please. Please feel free to share with friends, coworkers, groups or anyone willing to help!

Glen Oak Park will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland, and will have special events going on at the Peoria PlayHouse, Peoria Zoo and Luthy Botanical Gardens. Volunteers will be needed to assist at these locations and throughout Glen Oak Park to assist patrons attending our Winter Wonderland Event.

Santa is coming to Pearce! We’re looking for cheerful volunteers to help make this festive event a success. Volunteers will assist with serving a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast, selling tickets, and helping with setup and cleanup.

This is a fun way to spread holiday joy, give back to the community, and make special memories for local families. Whether you love the magic of Christmas or just enjoy helping others, we’d love to have you on our team!

Experience the magic of an illuminated garden filled with themed light scenes, festive food and beverages, live music, and the beautiful holiday display of poinsettias in the Conservatory.

Volunteers will assist Luthy Botanical Garden staff with event activities such as maintaining outdoor fire pits, helping at the s'mores station, assisting at the photo booth, and greeting guests as they arrive.

City Girl Farming is growing — literally!

We’re moving to a new location at Steeple Square, and we need a few helping hands to get us there. This volunteer opportunity is perfect for anyone who enjoys teamwork, good energy, and a little physical activity. We’ll have two shifts available:

1️⃣ Load the Truck – Help us pack up and load items at our current location (2900 Central Ave.)

2️⃣ Unload the Truck – Help us unload and get settled into our new space at Steeple Square

It’ll be a day full of movement, teamwork, and a few good laughs along the way. Come ready to lift, carry, and make a big difference for a local business that’s passionate about sustainable food and community connection. Project Renewal relies heavily on community volunteers to successfully carry out our mission. Individuals who have a sincere desire in helping improve the lives of children in our community can do so through our youth program and agency activities. We need your support!

Afterschool program hours: Monday - Friday, 2:45 – 5:30 p.m.

Summer program hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., additional field trip hours scheduled on a weekly basis.

Basic Function and Responsibility

To assist in supervising educational, recreational, and social activities designed to teach school-age children needed life skills such as self-esteem, time management, non-violent conflict resolution, interpersonal skills, and appropriate social behavior.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Volunteer examples: helping youth with homework, tutoring math, reading, writing, assist with craft projects, baking, computers, social interaction with youth, playing games, etc. Or other organization items, such as fundraising, marketing, garden and yard work, maintenance or cleaning.

Special Events: Project Renewal Fit-Fest, neighborhood parties –Halloween, Christmas Caroling, Easter Egg Hunt.

Zootober, where Halloween comes alive in the most thrilling way! Each weekend, the Peoria Zoo transforms after dark into a family-friendly fright fest, bursting with glowing lights, spooktastic characters, and hair-raising fun.

Volunteers will assist with kids crafts and games, hand out candy, and help with other event details. Family Friendly costumes are encouraged!

Looking for a flexible, impactful way to give back—from anywhere? Host a remote collection drive and rally your friends, workplace, school, church, or community group to support neighbors in need!

We’re seeking Volunteer Drive Leaders to collect high-need items for individuals and families served by The Salvation Army of Peoria.

What We Need Most:

Pantry Items (non-perishables, canned goods, shelf-stable snacks). Our food pantry is in DIRE need of items to help new and current families experiencing food insecurity. With the current cuts to SNAP benefits we are expecting to serve anywhere from 50-75 new families every week.

Coats (new or gently used only, please). Last year The Salvation Army distributed over 2,500 FREE coats to children and adults in the Tri-County. These are available at The Salvation Army Family Services building downtown Peoria, Monday - Friday during business hours from November 6th - January 31.

Cold Weather Items (blankets, coats, gloves, hats, scarves).

As a DBQ Shovel Crew volunteer you will be paired with a resident in need of assistance who is not physically able to remove snow and ice from their city sidewalk and do not have other resources to remove the snow and ice such as neighbors, friends, or a hired service. We are seeking volunteers who can help throughout the winter season.  The commitment is caring for assigned addresses all winter.

We are all pedestrians at some point in the day, whether walking to a car, the bus, to work, or just in your neighborhood. Your help in keeping sidewalks clear after snow and ice events is a meaningful way to help neighbors in need and the community!

Justyna Miranda, owner of City Girl Farming + Prepared Meals, has nourished our community with her delicious meals, warm friendship, and her unwavering spirit – and now she needs our help.

Very recently, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive adrenal cancer that she is actively fighting. The City Girl Farming Team is stepping up to keep normal operations while their trusty leader is in recovery, and with this transition, we are still looking for some additional help – which is where YOU come in! 

On Mondays and Tuesdays, we are looking for a couple of volunteers to assist our kitchen crew with meal prep tasks and dish washing. It is a fun and uplifting environment at 2900 Central Ave in Dubuque. Music is always playing, interesting conversations, and laughs are being shared almost all the time and as we prepare, cook, and package that week's delicious meals.

As a Blood Transportation Specialist, you'll ensure that lifesaving blood products are safely and efficiently transported to where they are needed the most. Your work helps maintain the Red Cross blood supply chain, directly supporting hospitals, patients, and blood drives.

The Community Organizations Active in Disaster group will be hosting a Volunteer Reception Center training. A Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) would be activated in the event of a disaster to intake and pair interested volunteers with opportunities to help in the community.

VRC training focuses on managing spontaneous volunteers after a disaster. We will learn how to register, assess, and assign volunteers to appropriate roles, ensuring safety, coordination, and proper documentation of hours for effective emergency response. 

This will be a free training and lunch will be provided!

                                  Blood Donor Ambassador (EXTREME NEED)

Greet donors, explain the donation process as necessary and assist with initial intake and hand offs through the blood donation process.

Direct donor to next step of donation or options for future donations if deferred.

Model excellent customer service behaviors.

Ensure blood donors have relevant information and that questions are answered appropriately while creating a favorable impression of the blood donation process.

Learn and share the Red Cross story, including the mission, vision, and values

Provide customer service to donors in the Hospitality Area by ensuring that each donor is recognized for his/her contribution. Report possible adverse post-donation physical reactions to the collections staff.

Set up and maintain cleanliness in Reception and Hospitality Areas, and Donor Areas/Beds as requested

Work with collections team supervisor or charge staff to match donor’s blood type with the best product for maximum impact

Responsible to inform donors of current and upcoming donation promotions

May make reminder/cancellation calls, re-schedule donor appointments, and perform follow up activities as directed

Role includes greeting donors, assisting with registration, and ensuring a positive donor experience. Even a few hours of your time can make a lifesaving difference.

Restoration Workdays are designed to help remove invasive plant species that interfere with the native habitat in our parks. This is an important step in maintaining a healthy environment in our parks and community. Plant removal is done through cutting with hand tools and/ or hand pulling when possible. This is a hands-on task and requires volunteers to be able to bend, carry tools, traverse uneven terrain, and in some cases walk long distances.
*11/4 date we will be picking up trash along the hillside while the road is closed for it's monthly maintenance work. 

Close toed shoes are required, long pants are preferred, but are optional. Please bring a water bottle and work gloves. We will provide work gloves if needed.

Are you passionate about your local community and want to help others discover how to give back? We're looking for seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help us update and enrich local pages on Ways to Connect, our national directory of volunteer sites.

Ways to Connect is a crowdsourced platform designed to boost traffic and engagement to local volunteer websites—like this one! With just a bit of online research and your enthusiasm, you can help neighbors easily find volunteer opportunity platforms, service clubs, mutual aid groups, and more—making it simpler than ever for everyone to make an impact locally.

Volunteer contributors have already helped us identify 711 volunteer resources across 324 communities in the US!

What You'll Do:

Conduct quick, simple online research to identify active service clubs, mutual aid groups, and upcoming volunteer events in your community.

Enhance your community's page on Ways to Connect by ensuring the information is current, accurate, and inviting for potential volunteers.

Optional: Promote your community’s page on social media to help friends and family find a path to service.

We are excited to expand this opportunity to more nurses: If you are an RN or LPN with a current professional license, the American Red Cross is eager to talk with you about an incredible volunteer opportunity at the Woodson Health Clinic at the Rock Island Arsenal.  Join a tradition of Red Cross nurses going all the way back to our founder, Clara Barton, by providing excellent patient care at a family clinic for our US Army personnel at the Arsenal.  The time commitment is minimal: If you can work one 5-hour shift per week, you will help meet the needs of the patients who rely on the clinic. This is an ideal opportunity for retired nurses or nurses who are working part-time.  If you want to give back to our military service members and continue to hone your clinical skills, we want to meet you and see if this is a great mutual fit.  Volunteers would work under the supervision of the officer-in-charge at the clinic, who is a Family Nurse Practitioner.   

During a public shopping event, volunteers keep the area looking good. We remove empty hangers, rearrange displays, and bag the shoppers' clothing. We assist shoppers with selection, if needed. Individuals and groups of all ages are welcome to help.

Volunteers will restock apparel, sort through donated items, hang and fold clothes. Volunteer hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 8:30-11:30 a.m. Time commitment will vary by individual with volunteers working 3 hours per day.

We are looking for a weekly volunteer.

Pearce is looking for Youth Sports Program Volunteers! We are currently in volleyball season and are in need of coaches and officials. Games take place on Saturday mornings at 10:00 am. Looking ahead to October, our Youth Basketball program will begin, and we are seeking volunteer coaches to help lead the season. If you enjoy working with kids and love sports, this is a great opportunity to make a difference!

Junior Achievement of Central Illinois provides volunteers with training that is simple and relatable; programs that are engaging and fun; and a classroom full of eager kids ready to learn from you!

As a Junior Achievement volunteer, you will inspire kids to achieve a more fulfilling career and life by contributing your professional insights and personal experiences to the programs you teach.
 
EASY STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS

1) Sign Up
How you volunteer is important! Select the type of volunteering that is most suitable to get more information and complete a form that our program team will use to contact you.

2) Pick Schedule
You will have the opportunity to discuss your preference of how or where you would like to volunteer before signing up.

3) Attend Training
A JA program team member will provide you with a short but effective training session in which you will be able to ask questions. Online, self-guided new volunteer training is also available. We will make sure you are ready to volunteer!

4) Impact Lives
Sharing your professional experiences as a mentor while facilitating JA Learning Experiences helps students believe in themselves so they can achieve their dreams!

FLEXIBLE VOLUNTEERING CHOICES
Location
Volunteering for Junior Achievement is flexible, and in many cases, you may be able to serve a class close to your home or workplace!

Time Investment
The JA program team provides resources that make preparation easy, and with so many learning experiences to choose from, you can pick one that best fits your goals and objectives. Most volunteers will visit classrooms five times in one school semester for five class periods (about 45 min. for each class period/lesson). A typical JA volunteer will spend just ten hours preparing and volunteering!

Grade Level
Junior Achievement has learning experiences for grades K-12. Volunteers are able to select the grade and/or subject matter that best meets their volunteering goals and objectives. 

Delivery Model
 We have in-person, virtual, and blended learning experiences!

 K-12 LEARNING EXPERIENCES
Elementary
In grades K-5, children are eager to learn and full of energy! If you like working with elementary grade children, you will love volunteering for JA! Games, engaging worksheets, and more are used to make learning fun and impactful for this age group.

Middle School
Volunteering with youth in grades 6-8 is very rewarding! It can be so much fun but also helps youth at a critical stage in their educational journeys. In this age group, youth are curious about the future and the kind of jobs that exist. They have a longer attention span than elementary grade children, and they are capable of creating relevant plans for their futures. 

High School
If you enjoy working with kids that are ready to tackle the world but are looking for the paths to be opened up to them and are fascinated by innovation and entrepreneurship, the high school volunteer experience may be right for you! Volunteering at the high school level will typically be focused on one or more of the three JA pathways: financial literacy, work/career readiness, and entrepreneurship/entrepreneurial thinking. 

Help advocates and staff members with tabling events and outreach volunteer opportunities in the community!
