Help Peoria Area Food Bank sort and box food drive donations by filling out the form below, or call Jeanette Wennmacher at 309-999-3841 to schedule a small group of 10 or less. We are also looking for volunteer drivers to help us pick up food donations. For this volunteer position you must be able to drive a 30 ft. box truck and be physically fit enough to lift up to 50 lbs.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository regularly needs volunteers to help repacking donated food and other products. Much of the food we receive at our warehouse comes in bulk quantities, and volunteers are scheduled to help us break it down into more manageable sizes. In a Repack session you may sort produce, inspect and box shipments of bread, or repack bulk dry goods (pasta, rice, beans) into smaller quantities. Together, we can properly and efficiently distribute quality food to participating food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in Cook County.

Family Matters - Chicago: Last fall we tore down a garage to make a green space for the youth at Family Matters. We need help spreading top soil, planting grass, and spreading mulch. We also are looking for help putting in a fence after the soil is spread. Email for more information.

Aging Network: Due to the suspension of group services and increased one-on-one in-home services that are being provided by the Aging Network, we are in need of more volunteers. Specifically, the Area Agencies on Aging need assistance in the form of non face-to-face contact with our older adults; including the delivery of meals and telephone reassurance programs. Both programs provide relief and assistance to our older adults who are practicing social distancing, but who are also at risk of being socially isolated. No experience is necessary for volunteers.

In the COVID-19 event, Illinois is looking for medically trained individuals to join the fight. Individuals that register here may be potentially contacted to work in a hospital surge or alternative housing setting.
