Hospice volunteers have a unique opportunity to brighten the lives of patients when they need it most. APEX Hospice is currently seeking compassionate volunteers to visit patients at a nursing facility in Lemont, Illinois.

At this location, APEX Hospice cares for multiple patients and is looking for dedicated volunteers to provide regular visits, companionship, and emotional support.

Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing quality of life through simple, meaningful interactions. As a volunteer, you may:

-Sit and visit with patients

-Read aloud or write letters

-Engage in games, crafts, or conversation based on patient preferences

-Bring small items like magazines, supplies, or flowers if desired

This is a non-medical role focused entirely on providing comfort, presence, and connection. All volunteers will receive orientation and training to ensure they feel confident and supported in their role.

Opportunities to tailor visits based on patient needs will be discussed as part of the care plan.

APEX Hospice is seeking diligent and dependable volunteers to support our office and field staff.

Volunteers in this role play an important part in keeping our operations running smoothly. Responsibilities may include:

-Managing and organizing supply room inventory

-Assembling folders and binders for field teams

-Answering phones and directing calls

-Basic filing and administrative support

-Assisting with computer or spreadsheet tasks

Tasks will be assigned based on each volunteer’s skills, interests, and comfort level.

Basic computer skills are helpful but not required.

All volunteers will receive guidance and support to feel confident in their role.

APEX Hospice cares is looking for dedicated volunteers to provide regular visits, companionship, and emotional support.

Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing quality of life through simple, meaningful interactions. As a volunteer, you may:

-Sit and visit with patients

-Read aloud or write letters

-Engage in games, crafts, or conversation based on patient preferences

-Bring small items like magazines, supplies, or flowers if desired

Visits are typically an hour long and would be scheduled based on volunteer availability and patient preference.  Recommended volunteer frequency is 1X/week or 2X/month.

APEX Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to serve as phone support callers.

We are looking for individuals who are strong listeners and want to make a meaningful impact by supporting hospice patients and their families.

Volunteers in this role will provide:

-Bereavement check-in calls to families after the loss of a loved one

-Support calls to patients and families to assess satisfaction with care and ensure their needs are being met

These roles are non-medical but play a vital part in the hospice care team.

Volunteers offer emotional support, a caring presence, and an opportunity for patients and families to share their experiences.

Volunteers will also help communicate any concerns or unmet needs to the hospice team so that we can continue providing the highest quality care.

All volunteers will receive training to build confidence in active listening, compassionate communication, and understanding their role within the hospice team.
