Who We Are

St. John Lutheran Church Food Pantry is a first responder to the hunger crisis in our community and welcomes all hungry neighbors regardless of zip code, county or school district.  As both a State of Illinois Emergency Food Pantry (EFP) and an agency of Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB), we are also part of St. John Lutheran Church. There are no religious based requirements to receive food or to volunteer.  During the COVID-19 Crisis we need healthy adults 18-59 who are not themselves, or live with someone, immunosuppressed.

What We Do

Each year, we serve 1 million pounds of shelf stable, refrigerated and/or frozen foods that we purchase, are donated or that we receive as commodities via the Northern Illinois Food Bank, from IDHS. During the COVID-19 Crisis we currently serve 330+ families/1,200+ family members on Saturday mornings in Joliet, IL through a drive-thru distribution model. {Otherwise, we are a client choice pantry.}  All All CDC guidelines recommended, face mask and gloves are both provided and required.
