Who We Are

Our Mission: Create opportunities for joyful learning and discovery through hands-on experiences in the sciences and arts. Discovery Center was founded by volunteers, and volunteers remain vital to the museum.

We sponsor a student volunteer program that each year involves over fifty adolescents in the museum and its programs. Senior citizens, interns, and other volunteers assist with exhibit maintenance, museum programming, general office duties, and more.

What We Do

Discovery Center Museum is a hands-on children's science museum with more than 300 exciting interactive exhibits. All of our exhibits are STEM related (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math). Exhibits focus on the human body, forms of electricity, the science of sports, space travel, simple machines, communication, agriculture, color and light, math, and more. In the Rock River Discovery Park, a 15,000 square foot multi-level science park, visitors can experience a dinosaur dig pit, maze, water play area, playground equipment, and more. In addition to permanent exhibits, Discovery Center also offers afterschool and Headstart programs, national traveling exhibits, outreach and family programs, home school classes, special events, and educator and scout workshops.
