Young Chicago Authors

We are a nonprofit organization that hosts the longest running youth open mic in Chicago as well as the largest spoken word poetry festival in the country. For 32 years, YCA has helped young people craft their own stories and express themselves through their art.

Through creative writing, Young Chicago Authors helps young people from all backgrounds to understand the importance of their own stories and those of others, so that they can pursue the path they choose and work to make their communities more just and equitable.
