Who We Are

Red Sneakers For Food Allergy Awareness- Peoria Chapter (Red Sneakers Peoria) is the charter chapter of Red Sneakers for Oakley a nation leading nonprofit who’s focus is saving lives through educating and advocating for individuals with food allergies.

Red Sneakers Peoria’s mission is to aid, and empower the food allergy community through support, research, education and advocacy. 

Our vision is improving the lives of local food allergy families by providing a safer, more educated, inclusive and collaborative local community inspiring national and global change.

What We Do

We are looking for event volunteers to help with our annual events.

Our events include:

- School Food Allergy Awareness and Training - (August)

- Annual Morton Pumpkin Festival - Food Allergy Education and Awareness at the Nonprofit Spot Booth - Friday before the parade. (September)

- Annual Morton Pumpkin Festival - Parade - Food Allergy Education and Awareness (September)

- Annual Red Sneakers Peoria 5K Walk/Run & Teal Pumpkin Fall Festival (Second Saturday in October) Peoria Heights - Tower Park & Grandview Drive 

- Planned Food Allergy Friendly Soccer Clinic - Summer 2026

We are also looking for ongoing volunteers to help with committees, event planning and our day to day tasks to grow our initiatives.

Our Initiatives include:

- Growing our local support group.
- Food allergy education, awareness

- CPR/ First Aid training for schools, restaurants, first responders, businesses and communities.
- Donating allergy-friendly foods

- Donating epinephrine.

- Advancing food allergy legislation.
- Improving access to therapies.
- Implementing food allergy menus.
- Advocating for allergy safe zones at venues. - - - Fostering allergy camps.
- Installing allergy safe signs at local parks/playgrounds

- organizing other fragmented support groups across the country.
