Who We Are

Bronzeville Historical Society is a 501 (c) 3 educational institution formed in 1999. A group of Black History enthusiasts in the Chicago's Southside community of Bronzeville have supported, lead and provided cultural programs, and classroom presentations with school age children and senior communities for more than 20 years. Spring 2026, We will open the Liberty or Death Exhibtion. The Exhibtion will introduce biographies of African American Civil War Soldiers. The soldiers are the ancestors of Black residents in Illinois.

What We Do

Bronzeville Historical Society collects, preserves, and protects African American History and culture of Chicago. We offer Genealogical research assistance, hosts book signings, movie screenings, Underground Railroad guided bus tours seasonally.
