Who We Are

West side regional library for Chicago Public Library. Legler began as the first regional branch of the Chicago Public Library. The location was named for Henry E. Legler (1861-1917), chief librarian of Chicago Public Library from 1909 until his death in 1917. Legler was designated a historic landmark building in 1987.

What We Do

Food pantry provides fresh fruit and vegetables as well as dairy, meat and shelf stable products to the community. We are a full-service library, plus the food pantry as well as programs for the community, a Maker Lab, Library of Things, dedicated computer lab and teen space. https://www.chipublib.org/locations/42/
