Youth Civic Light Opera of Chicago 250

Youth Civic Light Opera of Chicago (YCLOC) helps young people move from “overwhelmed and shut down” to “grounded, creative, and confident.” In our program - whether it’s DJ/music production, instrumental music, theatre, visual/fine arts, dance, or Youth as Researchers - youth first learn to relax, breathe, and settle their bodies using EFT Tapping. That simple practice signals: "this is a safe place to feel and to try." From there, the arts become a structured way to work through real emotions. Over time, students don’t just leave with a song, a scene, or a painting; they leave with emotional tools, a sense of belonging, and lived experience of resilience. That is YCLOC’s impact.
