Description

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Volunteers to join our team in providing essential support visits to individuals enrolled in our hospice program. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for those we serve. Volunteers provide a variety of supports aimed at promoting well-being, assist with daily living tasks, and foster a supportive community environment for those seeking end-of-life care with us.

Requirements

  • A compassionate attitude towards individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or memory care needs.
  • Willingness to learn and follow HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Understanding and supportive of hospice philosophy.
  • Compassion and respect for people’s differences.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an insured automobile in good working order, if making patient visits.
  • Must complete a minimum of 6 hours of initial training in the first 60 days as required by the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia’s Services Act (free access provided).
  • Personal or professional experience caregiving in medical setting a plus – but not required!

    Responsibilities – The needs of no two patients are the same and so volunteers’ roles vary. Some of those roles include but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing companionship and emotional support to patients and families.
  • Performing light household chores or running errands for patients and families.
  • Special interest activities; reading, playing music, playing games, arts and crafts, etc.
  • Reporting on patient and family status in a timely manner.
  • Participate in care team meetings when appropriate.
