General Function:
Under the direction of the Site Coordinator and the Youth Development Director, the member assists with the after-school program activities. They should be consistently alert to protect the health and safety of the children in attendance.
Know-How
Member should have some experience working with children and the desire to work with children ages 5 to 12, the majority of which are low income. Member must be certified in Community CPR and First Aid.
Principle Duties:
- Assist the site coordinator in taking attendance & snacks.
- Plan age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, physical activity).
- Assist with homework help.
- Encourage academic engagement behaviors.
o Homework completion
o consistent school attendance
o good behavior in school
o positive attitude about school
- Assist in handling any behavior problems.
- Notify the Youth Development Director of any out of the ordinary day to day occurrences.
- Assist in making a safe atmosphere.
- Respond to all First Aid incidents.
- Make sure child leaves with approved parent/guardian.
